This year, JS students celebrated Loy Krathong with a focus on sustainability. Traditionally made from banana tree trunks and intricately folded banana leaves, Krathongs symbolise gratitude to “Pra-Mae Kongka,” Mother River. These natural materials are biodegradable and eco-friendly, aligning with our commitment to caring for the environment. With the collaboration of parents, teachers, and educational assistants, JS students crafted one Krathong per family using banana tree trunks and bamboo pins. This hands-on activity not only honoured cultural traditions but also raised awareness of preserving natural resources. Inspired by the Loy Krathong song’s meaningful words, “As we push away, we pray, we can see a better day,” this celebration aimed to encourage sustainable living. Additionally, our school kitchen supported the event by preparing Thai desserts, Dta Koh, served in Pandan leaf containers, further emphasizing the use of biodegradable materials. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed—the administration, homeroom teachers, educational assistants, school secretaries, housekeepers, and kitchen staff. Their teamwork ensured the success of this eco-friendly event, creating a meaningful experience for our students and reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship.
