Moving to a new city is a big step, especially with children. So when the Marketing Team started looking for better ways to help families who are new to Chiang Mai, they asked a group who know a lot about it: our Grade 5 students.
Grade 5 had just started their first Unit of Inquiry of the year, on migration. They’d been looking at why people have moved around the world throughout history, and what that move meant for them. Many of the students have moved country themselves, so they had plenty to say about what it’s like to arrive somewhere new.
The Marketing Team visited Grade 5 to explain what they were hoping to do and to ask for ideas. The students had lots of thoughts about what new families might want to know. After the visit, they decided to go one step further and make a New Family Guide themselves.
Each class took its own approach:
- Ajarn Jenny’s class built a website covering life at Prem, packing tips, after-school activities, and their favourite places to eat, visit and live in Chiang Mai.
- Ajarn Alix’s class wrote a guidebook.
- Ajarn Vicki’s class designed a brochure.
The Marketing Team will be sharing the guides with families joining Prem, so the first advice many newcomers get will come straight from our students. Thank you, Grade 5, for putting so much thought and care into welcoming others. We’re very proud of you!
