Air Quality at Prem
Prem International School prioritizes the health and well-being of its community by closely monitoring air quality on campus. During the seasonal burning season, outdoor air quality in Chiang Mai can reach high levels, and we take proactive measures to safeguard our students and staff. Advanced air filtration systems (Positive Pressure Systems) are in place in all classrooms and learning spaces. All these spaces are monitored for AQI, CO2 and temperature, to make sure that our students, faculty and staff get the cleanest air possible.
Positive Pressure System (PPS)
Prem has equipped its classrooms, learning spaces, and sports facilities with powerful Positive Pressure Systems (PPS). The advanced PPS systems maintain near-zero PM2.5 levels inside, even when outdoor air quality reaches hazardous levels. The PPS system works by filtering outside air through high-performance filters and pushing it into classrooms, creating slightly increased pressure that prevents dirty air from entering while flushing out CO2. Unlike air purifiers, which struggle to maintain safe air quality on highly polluted days, the PPS system effectively achieves near-zero PM2.5 levels, ensuring a consistently safe and healthy learning environment.

3 Key Reasons why Prem has the Best Air Quality
Prem’s air quality system ensures your child breathes the best possible air, enhancing well-being and productivity.
Responsibility to our Students and Community
Prem is dedicated to surpassing WHO air quality targets, especially during Chiang Mai’s smoke season, in classrooms, learning spaces, and indoor sports facilities. The Air Quality Committee, led by the Head of School and comprising parents, teachers, operations, and students, oversees air purification equipment and integrates air quality into the curriculum.
Monitoring & Communication
Prem’s monitoring system employs over 100 sensors to track real-time air quality in classrooms, learning spaces, and outdoor areas. It provides automatic alerts if poor air quality is detected in any of these spaces. All Prem faculty and staff are promptly alerted to changes in air quality in their learning spaces, allowing them to ensure that air quality procedures are effectively implemented.
Continuous Improvement
Prem is a leader in air quality management among international schools. Utilizing a data-driven approach and a comprehensive sensor network, the school is dedicated to continuous improvement. By prioritizing health, safety, and productivity, Prem ensures that its learning environments remain among the safest and most optimized.
