Early Years Programme (3-5 Year Olds)

A word from our Early Years Principal

For powerful learning to take place, children must feel comfortable, so student well-being is our top priority. We offer a caring, safe, child-centered environment where children feel secure to explore, learn, and make sense of their world. Early Years at Prem is a special place, with weekly sessions at our organic farm and Forest School as part of our world-class outdoor education program.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our teachers see children as capable learners who thrive through play-based, hands-on experiences. We focus on the individual child, valuing their ideas and interests, and use art, nature, and projects to spark curiosity and creativity.

Our safe, inspiring environment nurtures positive relationships, promoting happiness, confidence, independence, and global citizenship. Teachers and parents collaborate to support our children’s learning

Forest School: A Journey of Discovery and Learning

We believe nature is an extraordinary learning environment, which is why we’ve integrated the Forest School methodology into our Junior School program. From Early Years to Grade 1, students explore the forest weekly, discovering and connecting with the natural world.

Forest School at Prem is more than outdoor time; it’s an educational approach that fosters creativity, resilience, self-esteem, and confidence. By encouraging risk-taking and decision-making, we empower students to become independent and self-aware.

The program enhances sensory learning, motor skills, coordination, and spatial awareness, while physical challenges build confidence. It supports holistic growth and active, hands-on learning, aligned with our grade units of inquiry.

Our Forest School area has evolved into a vibrant outdoor classroom, featuring a pond, flower alley, fruit tree area, and bug hotel, all promoting biodiversity and sustainability. This exceptional program enriches our students’ lives, deepening their connection with the environment as they learn and grow.
