We take pride in being a diverse IB School, dedicated to delivering a comprehensive education to grades 6-12 through the MYP (Middle Years Programme), DP (Diploma Programme), and CP (Career-related Programme) curricula. We believe in equipping our students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and values to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Compassion lies at the core of our educational philosophy. We aim to instill empathy and understanding in our students, nurturing their ability to connect with others and contribute positively to society. Through various initiatives and service projects, we encourage our students to make a difference in the lives of others, fostering a sense of responsibility and a desire to create positive change.

Creativity is another essential aspect of our educational approach. We provide a dynamic and stimulating environment that encourages students to explore their passions, think outside the box, and embrace innovation. Through a diverse range of artistic, scientific, and technological pursuits, our students develop their imaginative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a deep appreciation for the arts.

We place a strong emphasis on knowledge acquisition and academic excellence. Our curriculum is designed to challenge students intellectually, promoting a love for learning and a thirst for knowledge. We believe in equipping our students with a strong foundation across various disciplines, fostering critical thinking, research skills, and a global perspective that prepares them for higher education and beyond.

Furthermore, our commitment to character development and principled behaviour with IB Learner Profile attributes and respect as a core value sets the stage for our students to become ethical and responsible individuals. We emphasise the importance of integrity, honesty, and respect in all aspects of their lives. By nurturing a strong moral compass, we empower our students to make ethical choices and become positive role models in their communities.

Pastoral Programme

Prem offers a supportive, caring, and inclusive environment through small Homeroom class sizes, strong relationships between students and staff, and a robust and engaging social, emotional, health and economic curriculum, all within a stunning countryside setting where there are lots of opportunities to connect with nature.

Our pastoral programme can be best summarised as:

Homeroom

Pastoral care at Prem is delivered through our Homeroom system. Students each have a dedicated Homeroom teacher with whom they meet on a daily basis. Homeroom teachers are responsible for the wellbeing and development of each student within their group, and they are often the first point of contact for parents.

Connections

Connections is our bespoke timetabled curriculum programme for exploring social, emotional, health and economic topics. It runs from grade 6 through to Grade 12, and is delivered every week through sessions from our school Counsellors, Homeroom teachers, outside experts, or other key staff. It is designed to provide Prem students with the awareness, tools and advice that they need to help them develop and grow, and covers the knowledge and skills needed to embark on a life beyond Prem.

In Connections, our students learn about their bodies and staying healthy, and about relationships, friendships and sexual intimacy. They are taught about the risks associated with alcohol and drugs, about keeping safe online and building a positive digital footprint. Other sessions cover resilience, diversity, sexual orientation and gender identities, and the basics of finance decision making and living in the wider world. We encourage Prem students to look inward, to know themselves better, and to look outward, to understand the world around them and to be well prepared for the next steps in their journey. Leadership and Service

We highly value nourishing leadership capacity in our students through a broad range of opportunities. We believe that student leaders play a vital role in shaping our school community and empowering their peers.

Service to others is an equally significant learning opportunity pathway in an individual’s character development. Both of these important aspects play a crucial role in fostering personal growth, community engagement, and positive social impact.

Leadership opportunities range from our Student Council, our Prem Panthers sports teams, our four Houses, our Prem Ambassadors, as buddies for new students, as delegates and leaders in MUN, World Scholar's Cup, our student founded and run Foodbank and many more! Senior School students also have opportunities to lead the direction of their learning through various projects, subject options or programme pathways.

We strive to ensure that student leadership in multiple areas of school life is recognised, celebrated and supported through:

  • Inclusive leadership opportunities
  • Mentoring and guidance
  • Service-learning initiatives
  • Student-led initiatives, clubs and organisations
  • Collaboration and teamwork
  • Student representation and involvement
  • Reflection and growth opportunities
  • Amplifying student voices
  • Involving student leaders in decision-making processes

Our commitment to valuing and nourishing student leadership is visible throughout Prem and within our wider community. We recognise the potential of our young leaders at all ages, empower them to become active agents of change who make a difference, and strive to create an environment that encourages their growth, and cultivates a sense of social responsibility and empathy.
