When life gives you lemons, make lemonade...

Our term one unit of inquiry in IEP is “Who we are” and this transdisciplinary theme has been embedded across all subject areas. In Science, students have been looking at the water content of different fruit and vegetables and participating in excursions to ‘The Farm’ to undertake experiments. For example, students have dried fruit in an oven and then measured the loss in mass and learned that not only do fruit and vegetables have lots of vitamins and minerals but also a lot of water content.

As a fun and interactive way to celebrate the end of this unit, students made some lemonade using the juice of 4 lemons, 3 bottles of soda water and some sugar. They enjoyed the process of squeezing lemons, watching the fizzy reactions and tasting the end result!
