Video: Artist Residents - Jade and Yolanda

Grade 10 Theatre Arts students recently had the opportunity to work with award-winning actor and writer, Yolanda Mercy and the Theatre Director. Jade Lewis. Thirteen students undertook an intensive, two-week workshop programme, via Prem’s programme, Artist Residency Thailand.

Using ‘youth-voice’ as a tool for devising new theatre, all of the students inputted ideas, aspirations and experiences from their own lives as a starting point for creating a new performance. Working closely with our resident artists, these ideas were developed into a series of short monologues, that were performed to an audience of their teachers and peers. The process allowed and encouraged students to foster their performance and ensemble techniques, as well as developing communication and other skills, that was of benefit to their wider, IB education.
