Grade 5 students have been exploring the function of modern technology. They began by observing technology in their environment and developing questions about the elements which make them work. Through hands on experiences with the PSC funded Arduino kits, students have solidified their grasp of otherwise complex systems. Connecting circuits, sensors and microcontroller boards with computer code has allowed students to further explore questions, as they hypothesised, calculated and tested a variety of variables. Our next steps are to formalize this process using the scientific method and propose solutions to problems based on our new understanding of technology.
