Unwinding with Music

On their return from camp our boarders spent the weekend joyously reuniting with their friends in other grades, catching up on rest, and most notably finding ways to creatively unwind after an exciting week.

Music is a highlight among the many diverse interests shared by our boarders. Most of our boarders play at least one instrument; many play a dizzying array with our current record being ten instruments played by one student. Such talent makes for a very pleasant atmosphere in boarding – we are incredibly privileged to hear the boarders practicing the piano or violin in the evenings and proud to cheer them on in school-wide performances.

More informally the boarding clusters are very musical places. Learning the guitar and/or ukelele have been popular interests for staff and students alike and impromptu music lessons are a common sight in the afternoons. Sing-offs and rap battles are also present throughout our boarding community with the film Pitch Perfect having sparked a whole new level of enthusiasm and talent. From beat-boxing to singing, to song-writing and using their astounding knowledge of pop music, students use music to ensure their free time is entertaining and relaxing.

We look forward to many more evenings and weekends of song and dance. Stay tuned for more from the Prem Boarding community as the students continue to develop their talents!
