At the weekend, among the activities offered was the Sewing Club, run by A. Penthai and A. Alex. This weekend we welcomed new attendees who had never used a sewing machine before. Before long they were sewing together and embellishing blessing bags which will later be filled with small gifts and given by the boarders to the maids who work in Boarding as thanks for their hard work.

During this session, they learned about threading a sewing machine, changing the stitch pattern on the machine and what they are used for, the purpose of pinning fabric, and using a sewing machine itself. All were given chances to practise on the machine, which they enjoyed. All were absorbed in their tasks! They also hand-sewed decorations onto the bags. Before long, a pile of fabric was transformed into three complete bags – not bad for beginners! Well done girls!
