Whizz! Crash! Pop! Literacy Week has definitely gone off with a bang this week and our Junior School students have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the myriad of activities that have taken place.
Our students and teachers were fountains of creativity throughout the week, working independently and collaboratively to produce and perform some amazing poems. Words were woven to create powerful images that dazzled, intrigued and entertained us all. There were poems about everything from strawberries to fireworks, we can't wait to see these altogether in our first Prem Poetry e-book!
We welcomed parents to see our Literacy curriculum in action, to work alongside their children as they participated in their daily learning activities such as Big Writing and Guided Reading. Parents also had an opportunity to work with A.Tiew learning more about how we can help our students at home developing their reading skills in Thai. We collaborated with our older friends in the Middle School, reading stories together in a range of languages promoting our belief that "Prem Kids Read Everyday"
Did you hear about the mad visiting scientists that visited our school and performed a crazy experiment called 'Elephant Toothpaste'? After watching these scientists in action our students were inspired to do some great writing, from narratives and creative poems to experiment instructions our students from EY 1 – Gr 5 produced some super dooper writing, great job everyone.
Literacy Week came to an end with our annual Character Dress Up day. Did you spot the Very Hungry Caterpillar? Or Madeline? Or the scary dinosaurs? Well done to all the boys and girls for your costumes and bringing the books that inspired them too. Our JS staff did an amazing job too dressing up and performing a surprise pantomime.
A big thank you to all the children, parents and staff for supporting this week and promoting Literacy through a myriad of activities and learning experiences.
