Taking Positive Action to Being Healthy

Grade one’s have been inquiring into and demonstrating making healthy choices in all aspects of their lives. In August, A. Agnes visited the class as a very unhealthy character. This provoked a lot of discussion amongst the children on what being healthy means.

They all agreed in August that they were going to help A.Agnes learn about healthy fruit and vegetables, so the students planned a healthy eating event.  The decision was to have a fruit party, because parties are fun. A. Kate was keen for the students to take part in organising the party. Part of this organisation was to bring and prepare the fruit for the guests that were attending the party.  As the students learnt and applied cutting skills, they were building their hand and arm muscles, in order to develop more beautiful handwriting.
