Supporting children with their Mother Tongue language at home

This week we held a parent workshop focusing on supporting Mother Tongue language development at home.
As part of this workshop, parents shared with one another different ways they promote their Mother Tongue with their children and challenges that they face.
Using the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, together we practised strategies to support building comprehension skills when reading with children at home using scaffolds in Thai, Mandarin and English.
The presentation with some top tips and research about the importance of Mother Tongue has been uploaded to the Parent Portal in the Parent Workshop section. The handouts are also available there for you to access at your convenience.

A big thank you to A.Cathy and A.Tammy for your work supporting parents in this area and to A.Wendy and A.Tiew for giving us a helping hand preparing the parent resources.
