Storytelling with Shapes
The EY3 children have been exploring 2D shapes and using their creativity to use shapes in different ways. We read the book, The Shape of Things and were inspired to create our own stories by using shapes as our inspiration.
Each child was given five different shapes of paper. They were asked to create a story with all of the shapes. The children were able to draw to add more depth to their stories as well. Using their knowledge of characters and the setting of stories, the EY3 students turned their shapes into many different things and places.
When you look at these stories, ask yourself the following questions:
What do you see?
What do you think?
What do you wonder?
After creating these stories, the children worked in small groups to share their creativity and how their shapes were used. It was wonderful to see how different each story was!
