Story making through Literacy and PE

In P.E., the children have been given a special animal name that they will be for the year.  These animals are all found in Thailand and this is a great way to raise awareness and build appreciation for the living things around us.  In P.E., the children are learning how to move like the animals and they are continuing to bring that experience into Literacy.

This week, the students were invited to create a story about their animal.  First, the children drew a picture of their animal’s home.  Then, each child worked with clay to make a 3D model of their animal.

Later, the students were introduced to a story map, where they planned out their story with characters and a setting.  We then discussed and made a plan for the stories to have a beginning, middle, and end.  The students have been very creative and brought their knowledge of their animals into these entertaining stories!

Next week, we will be working to bring these stories to life!
