Joseph Holroyd

Something of a globetrotter, Joe Holroyd comes from London, his wife Nicole from California, and their son Bobby was born in France! Joe has a background in teaching IB DP & MYP English, plus DP Film, TOK, Psychology and Global Politics. Former roles have included Deputy Head (Ecole des Roches, France), IB Coordinator (Canadian International School, Hong Kong), TOK Coordinator (NIST, Bangkok) and Head of English (YCIS, Shanghai).
Joe also works for the IB running workshops across the IB Continuum, visiting schools to perform evaluations, and developing and running webinars. A passionate advocate of lifelong learning, Joe has pursued postgraduate qualifications in Education, Literature, Philosophy, Creative Writing and Counselling throughout his teaching career. These interests converge on an interest in human complexity and creativity – which he shares with Nicole, who is a marriage and family therapist (MFT).
Recent professional development Joe found enriching include the MiSP .b mindfulness trainer certification and PYP Administration, and Joe is in the midst of doctoral studies exploring innovation in education and industry at Paris Dauphine University. Previous publications have included a Lacanian literary analysis of Philip Roth’s The Human Stain (Purdue UP), and short fiction in Flash! The International Short Story Magazine(Chester UP). When not scribbling / being a perpetual student, Joe loves being outdoors with Nicole and Bobby, various sports, the arts and travel.
