Akane Yoshida

Akane is a fully grown Third Culture Kid, having been born in the US to Japanese parents and spent her formative years in the UK and China. She holds a BA in Modern and Classical Chinese from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London; a PGCE from the University of Sunderland; and an MSc in Language and Communication Impairment in Children from the University of Sheffield. Her past experience includes working alongside children with moderate to profound learning differences in China and Romania. Akane is a tireless champion of learner diversity in international schools, and strongly believes that schools should work harder to create communities that truly reflect the heterogeneity of the real world.

Akane is joined at Prem by her husband, Justin, and two boys, Niall and Otis. Baking is her form of meditation, but having a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old means she is generally too sleepy to have hobbies.
