Have you become more aware of the songs and calls of local birds since there have been less cars, planes […]
Over the past year, Barge, Farm, Cooking and VSP staff have been looking for ways to connect the issues that they teach with the UN Sustainable Development Goals – the seventeen goals identified to provide the focus for a more sustainable future.
The sustainable development goals interconnect but each of the Traidhos Programs aligns well with the themes and concepts that the goals highlight. For example, VSP programs visiting local communities, often touch upon Goal 3, Good Health and Well-being and Goal 4, Quality Education. The Barge Program regularly discusses issues contained in Goal 14, Life Below Water and Goal 15, Life on Land. The Cooking Academy addresses the issues of food miles and seasonal food, some of the issues in Goal 2, Zero Hunger while the Farm Program explores amongst others, Goal 12 Responsible Consumption, and Production.
If you have not yet caught up with these international goals, look out for a new campaign as the Smurfs help promote all seventeen Sustainable Development Goals through a campaign called #SmallSmurfsBigGoals in the lead up to the 2017 International Day of Happiness.
