Seven Squares

The Grade 7 Mathematics students have been engaged in a problem-solving activity titled “Seven Squares.” This problem looked at generic patterns and challenged students to describe them clearly – verbally, numerically and algebraically. The problem starting with a simple matchstick pattern, students were asked to describe 3 different methods of solving the matchstick problem. They then had an individual extension task that followed on from this pattern, which they had to attempt to solve by following the process of an investigation.

Feel free to visit the Middle School to have a look at their learning.
