Service Learning in Action : Kingdom Kids

Five of our Grade 11 students visited a local special needs school, Kingdom Kids, on Monday. The purpose of this visit was to meet the young students, try to understand their needs and identify opportunities for working together. Our Prem students got engaged straight away by taking part in an exercise routine! They then split up into small groups, some making crafts and others teaching English and Chinese. It was clear how much the Kingdom Kids and the Prem students were enjoying their time together. The rooms were filled with laughter and smiles. The students were sad to say goodbye at the end of our visit but this will become a regular service learning opportunity. Since returning to school the Prem students have been inspired and have been busy coming up with ideas to help and support Kingdom Kids.
