In order to introduce our next system, the nervous system, the students were given a smell, taste and touch test. They were asked three questions:
What is it?
How do you know what it is?
What body part or system is used during this experiment?
We explained about the parts of the brain and their function and how neurons help the brain communicate with the rest of the body. We played a game of signal where students held hands and had to squeeze their neighbours hand to pass the signal down the line. This is similar to how the neurons communicate but it is at lightening speed.
Next the students will learn some researching skills such as key word search, sourcing and paraphasing through a “fact find” on the nervous system.
