This past weekend Prem Cub Scouts Nathan, Leo, and Henry and their families camped out in the mountains and supported the Northern Thailand Catholic Student Association’s activities in the remote Karen village of Baan Mae Nga, Mae La Noi, Mae Hong Son.
The purpose of the celebration was to bring some 80 kids cheer and encouragement by letting them know that there are people out in the world who care. Utilizing funds raised from Prem’s Halloween party and from Scout parents, Scouts donated sports equipment for two elementary schools, plus prizes for the day’s games. We had a riot of a time and learned quite a lot about their conditions. According to the villagers, our visit marked the first time foreigners have been there, and they welcomed us to return.
We also explored Kaew Komon Cave, a beautiful vertical crystalline cave, and went for a bath in the hot springs at Mae Sariang.
Join the adventure for Exploria Season 3 – be a Scout!
