Scholarships and Bursaries

Prem offers a number of scholarships for excellence in a range of Academic, Sports and Creative fields,

The deadline for applying for a scholarship is 20th June 2021 and successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible after application. You will need to complete a school application using Open Apply as well as the Scholarship Application Form linked to the green buttons below. Please read the details about the scholarships listed below carefully before starting your application. Visual Art Scholarship

Visual Arts Scholarship

The 50% Visual Art Scholarship welcomes applicants from students applying to enter grades 6 – 12 who can demonstrate a history of excellence in the Visual Arts. As well as filling in the scholarship application form applicants will be required to submit a digital portfolio showcasing their art work and be willing to attend an interview to discuss this with our Visual Arts teachers. There is an expectation that the recipient of this scholarship will be a role model in our school taking an active role in school visual art events such as the annual Art In, the CMCIS Art Project, the PREM Summer Arts Slam and the Whole School Gallery Walk as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities and exhibitions. The recipient will sit on a steering committee with the other young arts leaders at Prem.

The scholar would be expected to select visual art as an elective subject at MYP and IBDP to maintain the yearly award of the scholarship grant

 

The ideal student should demonstrate the following attributes to qualify for consideration:

  • A passion for visual arts
  • A desire to be an active ambassador for art within the school community; taking part in exhibitions, organising school/house visual art activities and promoting visual art in general
  • Tenacity, courage and energy
  • A collaborative mindset
  • A hard work and hands-on ethic
  • Enthusiasm for building further opportunities for arts engagement throughout the school

Prem Ambassadors Award

Prem Ambassadors Award

This 10 – 50% scholarship award is normally for students who have been at Prem for at least one year in Grades 8-11, and can demonstrate that they exemplify the values of our mission, which can be found here. It is likely applicants will be committed to involvement in the Arts, Sports, or Service; have maintained high levels of academic achievement, and are role models within our community.

To apply you will need to submit the application form found HERE.

On the form you will see that you have to submit a short written rationale for your application and that you can upload documentary evidence to support your application.

As Prem Ambassadors. recipients of this award would be expected to take part in assemblies, events and presentations throughout the year as needed.

Decisions about who receives the award and for which amount will be made by a panel and are final. The award is for one year, and all students may apply or reapply on an annual basis.

International Scholarship

International Scholarship

This 50% scholarship welcomes applications from students, not currently part of our community of learners, who come from Europe, Australasia, Africa, the Americas or Asia and who would increase the diversity of culture and languages in our student body. 

The recipients of this award would be expected to take part in assemblies, school events and presentations throughout the year as needed.

Theatre Studies Scholarship

Theatre Studies Scholarship

The 50% Theatre Studies Scholarship welcomes applicants from students applying to enter grades 6 – 12 who can demonstrate a history of excellence in Drama and Theatre Studies. As well as filling in the scholarship application form and the Open Apply requirements  applicants will be willing to attend an interview/audition to discuss this with our Drama teachers.

There is an expectation that the recipient of this scholarship will be a role model in our school, taking an active role during school drama festivals such as ISTA and the Shakespeare Festival. They would show commitment to extra-curricular productions as either a performer, technician or designer. The scholar would be expected to select Drama/Theatre Studies as an elective subject at MYP and IBDP to maintain the yearly award of the scholarship grant. The recipient will sit on a steering committee with the other young arts leaders at Prem.

The ideal student should demonstrate the following attributes to qualify for consideration:

  • A passion for theatre and dramatic arts
  • A desire to be an ambassador for drama in the school community, taking part in performances, promoting school drama activities and promoting the Theatre Arts in general
  • Tenacity, courage and enthusiasm
  • A collaborative mindset
  • A hard work and hands-on ethic

IBCP Sustainability Scholarship

IBCP Sustainability Scholarship

The 50% IBCP Sustainability Scholarship welcomes applicants from students applying to enter the IBCP SUMAS course in Grade 11 who can demonstrate a history of commitment to  entrepreneurship and/or sustainability.

Bursaries

Prem values its community and when an occasional problem arise for families whose children have been attending Prem with respect to school fees we are sometimes able to offer hardship bursaries to those in need.

Music Scholarship

Music Scholarship

The 50% Music Scholarship welcomes applicants from students applying to enter grades 6 – 12 who can demonstrate a history of excellence in Music. As well as filling in the Scholarship Application form the applicants will be required to submit a digital portfolio showcasing their musical achievement and be willing to attend an interview/audition to discuss this with our Music staff.

There is an expectation that the recipient of this scholarship will be a role model in our school, taking an active role during school music festivals and events.

Each Music Scholar is required to play two instruments; if only one instrument is currently played then another instrument would be introduced.

  • Music Scholars should have theory based music skills as well as performance skill.
  • Applicants should have gained theory from grade 4 RSM
  • Music Scholars must be committed to extra-curricular music activities as well as other departmental Exploria activities
  • Each Music Scholar will join the Prem choir.
  • The scholar would be expected to select Music as an elective subject at MYP.
  • The recipient will sit on a steering committee with the other young arts leaders at Prem.

Sports Scholarship

Sports Scholarship

The 50% Sport Scholarship welcomes applicants from students applying to enter Grades 6 – 12 who can demonstrate a history of excellence in sport. As well as filling in the scholarship application form applicants will be required to submit a digital portfolio showcasing their involvement in sport and be willing to attend an interview to discuss this with our Sports faculty. 

Applicants should be able to meet at least three of these four criteria:

  • Have represented their country in their chosen sports field (Age Group Level).
  • Have competed to a high level in their chosen sports field, outside of the school sports arena. For example: Competed successfully in National level competitions.
  • Has a commitment to be a multi-sport athlete at Prem.
  • Is looking to move into sports as part of their further education or career (Sports Scholarship at College, Professional Sports)

Intensive English Programme Scholarship

IEP Scholarship

The 50% Intensive English Programme Scholarship welcomes applicants from new students applying to join Prem in Grades 6 –12. 

“The IEP is a unique and exciting programme that allows students who are still approaching English language fluency to further hone and develop their skills. We empower our students through a rigorous and challenging curriculum that actively promotes English language acquisition. With specially trained staff, students are well placed to experience both academic excellence and success, becoming confident learners and communicators in English. Applicants should fill in the scholarship application form. This includes a space for a short piece of writing outlining why they think they would be a suitable recipient of this scholarship. (We would like to be able to gauge the English level and the personality of the writer).

If our panel feel you are a suitable candidate you will be asked to attend an interview here at Prem. We are looking for:

  • Academic potential
  • Leadership qualities
  • A willingness to learn
  • Community and global mindedness
  • Someone who is principled and caring
