Rainbow Food in Grade 3/4

Grade 3/4 explored nutrition and its impact on the human body systems at our cookery school. Through the exploration of various foods, students were able to discuss the healing benefits of the six main food groups, and explain how they can be used to treat a range of ailments. The students made their own healthy wraps, steamed potatoes, explored how to get our ‘sweet fix’ through low sugar desserts and created several different teas in small groups. Overall, the message for us all was key: every meal we eat should contain a rainbow of colours to ensure our bodies are receiving the right balance of nutrients. This helps us to take care of our body systems.
