PSC Donates 20,000 Baht to Local Firefighters!

The Parent School Community Committee, or PSC, is taking action to reduce the haze and improve air quality in our community. Over the past few  weeks, the PSC has donated  20,000 Baht to help and support firefighters working tirelessly around the clock to put out fires, and thus reduce the pollution, in and around Mae Rim.

The first donation of 10,000 was made available as an emergency donation on March 14th to immediately supply under-equipped firefighting teams with desperately-needed wind blowers, rakes, clothes, masks, drinking water, and food supplies.  A second donation of 10,000 was approved in a community vote on March 28th where 99% of parent voters approved the donation!

Many thanks to all parents who voted to support these efforts, and also to the many parents who made individual donations to help fight the fires. We are especially grateful to Prem Parent Ben Svasti in coordinating these efforts, and for distributing our donations to several fire fighting teams.  He is also keeping us updated regularly on their efforts, and providing photos from the front lines of the devastating effects of the fires.

The PSC is continuing efforts to organize parents and take action to protect our environment and our community from the hazardous conditions caused by the seasonal burning in and around Chiang Mai.
