Last week saw our Prem Panther JV and Varsity Basketball Teams take part in the CMAC end of season tournaments. While the season has been a little bit stop/start and therefore not as many games and practice as we’d like, our teams put in excellent performances at the tournaments. Our JV girls started the day fantastically with a last second win over the strongest team, Grace. Lily drew a foul in the last second and drained two free throws to win by a point. Prem won the next game and the semi final, pitting us against Grace again in the final. Unfortunately, with such a small team (8 players) and some injuries, the girls ran out of steam in the final, but really showed fighting spirit and great development over the course of the season and their second placed finish was well deserved. Our JV boys came in third place overall, but showed themselves to have great skill level and hustle by running the two finalists very close in pool play and the semi-finals. Our JV boys lost close games to both CMIS and Grace, who were the finalists. Lastly, on the Saturday our Varsity boys played in four marathon games, winning two and losing two to end up in third place. While our lack of numbers meant that we lost to CMIS in the final game of the day, the highlight of the season was beating CMIS on home turf in the previous week, something which Prem hadn’t done for a number of years. Well done Prem Panthers basketballers and thanks to our coaches A. Joe and A. Lee.
