Parent /Student/ Teacher/ Conferences - A new way of thinking

As a new parent at Prem I was a little unsure of how the online conferences were going to work. And I will admit that I did have a few niggling doubts about it.  With my online meetings all set up, my daughter and I settled down to talk to the teachers. And, I have to say, it was a real eye opening experience. The online aspect did not cause a barrier (as I had feared) and I think that as we have all been forced globally to go online this was a testament to how much more at ease everyone is with technology.  The time allocations given were enough to talk through my daughter’s progress and targets, with no distractions. The aspect that really stood out was how the teachers did not lead the consultations in a traditional way but were always including my daughter to discuss how she felt she was getting on, and that this would be a real three was discussion,  led by her.  As a parent I learned a lot about what an IB learning experience looks like. And seeing my daughter so empowered through the process, I was really impressed. I could see the way she approaches her subjects and interacts with her teachers, and that this new way of learning definitely suits my daughters inquisitive outlook.
Thank you to all the teachers at Prem that made this experience so positive.
