Panthers win Sawasdee President Cup Tournament

On Sunday 7 February, 2016, Prem hosted the second President’s Cup and President’s Plate tournaments. It was only the third tournament that the Prem Panthers had entered and there was tough opposition with schools from Sahakorn, now in their fourteenth year of competition, Mae On, Huai Kaew and CPP.

The ground looked a picture and the weather was kind as it was not too hot for the juniors.  In the cup competition, The Panthers started well with a big victory over Huai Kaew.  They then followed that with another strong performance, beating favourites Sahakorn.  They finally completed the clean sweep by defeating Mae On to obtain maximum points and achieve the first ever Sawasdee President's Cup Tournament victory.

In the Plate Competition, the Premettes, in their first ever tournament just missed out on second place as Sahakorn defeated them in a close finish.  To win a game in their first tournament after only four weeks of introduction to the game was a huge achievement.

The tournament was a huge success and both teams are entered into the National Tournament in March, held again here at Prem.

The two teams also embark on a mini tour next month to play at grounds at Mae On and Huae Kaew.

Special mention must go to the expert coaching of Ajarn Mark and Ajarn James who have brought both teams on in such a short time.
