The Grade 2s just finished their summative task for our Geological Features unit. Throughout this unit we experimented with erosion from wind and water and looked at how tectonic plates and shape our land. Students went on virtual trips around the world by using Google Earth and maps. We looked at mountains, canyons and caves, etc. around the world, all the while gaining skills in geography and how to read a map.
For the final project, the students met with A.Linda from the marketing team to learn how to make a convincing campaign. From there, the students did research and developed a presentation to try and convince people to come to Prem or convince their families to go on a special holiday. The students learned new research skills, technology skills, and learned how to debate and build strong arguments using persuasive language. They had to combine all this skills together in a green screen video or slideshow to influence their target audience, their families. We were very lucky and had many parents joined us in class. Turns out our Grades 2 are very skilled and convincing people!
