Operation Smile- Healing Smiles and Changing Lives

It may seem insignificant, but remember that you are contributing to someone else’s reason to smile today.

Operation Smile is a Prem student-led organization that raises funds to fund surgeries for young children with cleft palates and cleft lips that would otherwise be prohibitively expensive. Operation Smile has been unable to complete the fundraising events on schedule due to the pandemic. After a rough start with remote learning in term 1 and hybrid learning in term 2, the team found it incredibly difficult to meet and commence actions to plan fundraising events in order to attain the 2022 objective goal. In the midst of the pandemic and its restrictions, the team has convened online to discuss strategies for when the restrictions are lifted. Operation Smile had its first fundraising event on February 11th, selling hot dogs in front of the Chum Shop. Parents, teachers, and students showed their support for the event by buying hotdogs and contributing some amount to the charity. It was a resounding success. The team then sold single roses and candies to celebrate love on February 14th, Valentine’s Day. It was another huge success, with almost all of the stocks being sold during morning recess.

Operation Smile would like to express its gratitude to the school administration for allowing the activities to take place, as well as to everyone who has contributed to the charity.
