Open Mic Night

On Friday 22 May, the Boarding Student Council hosted an Open Mic Night in the Boarding Lounge to raise funds for Nepal Earthquake Relief. The night opened with a relaxed meal of pizza and Italian soda, with the students excitedly doing last-minute rehearsals and tuning their instruments. The event was open to the entire boarding community, with our juniors being a very enthusiastic audience for the older students.

Over the course of the night, students took turns singing songs across the genres of pop, rap, and hip hop. While the majority of songs were sung in English, many students also showcased songs in Chinese and Thai, reflecting the diversity of our boarding community. Our soloists excelled in pop hits such as Justin Bieber’s Baby, while guitar-singing duets were also performed. As grade levels, our Grade 10 girls gave an enthusiastic performance of Travie McCoy’s Billionaire, while our Grade 8 students brought down the house with a touching performance of Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again, which was dedicated to the students who will be leaving us at the end of the school year.

Congratulations to our Boarding Student Council, who displayed excellent leadership, marketing, and organisational skills in bringing this event to life. In total, they have raised almost THB 10,000 for Nepal Earthquake Relief while also providing the boarding community a fun night to remember.
