MYP Parent Workshop

On Tuesday evening in the Senior School undercroft, 20 Prem parents joined Ajarn Andy, Ajarn Simi and Ajarn Jeff for an interactive tour through some of the key elements of our Middle Years Programme at Prem.

Ajarn Andy, Prem’s MYP Coordinator, introduced parents to why Prem offers MYP for grades 6 through grade 10, while highlighting how conceptual based teaching and curriculum aims to develop students in the middle years in line with the mission and vision of Prem and the IBO.

The parents in attendance had a first hand opportunity to see how MYP assessment works by completing a learning task and then developing the criteria to assess the task. This mini simulation allowed the parent participants an opportunity to understand MYP assessment criteria and ask questions of Ajarn Andy.

The evening’s activities came to an end only after parents had an opportunity to mark 2 sample grade 8 mathematics tasks using the given criteria. Ajarn Andy, Ajarn Jeff and Ajarn Simi want to thank all of the parent participants who demonstrated many of the IB Learner Profile attributes during the workshop! They were active inquirers and brought an enthusiasm to understand and learn to the workshop. We hope the evening is a part of continuous learning and good thinking going forward in the Senior School.
