This week Grade 7 student's in A. Gina's Digital Design class demonstrated their use of technology in music. Using Sonic Pi , an open-source programming environment designed for creating new sounds with code in a live coding environment, students not only demonstrated their compositions but were able to talk openly about the coding process they went through to enable them to create sound on the computer. Laurence, Chao, Patrick and Guych all shared their creations.
Sonic developed by Dr Sam Aaron at the University of Cambridge. He uses the software to perform live with his band. If you would like to find out more or give it a try then please click here.
Other students in the class used Apple's Garage Band for their compositions. Ugen was voted winner of the class composition challenge by his classmates.
