Prem Boarders got creative this week!
At the weekend boarding staff Ajarn Panika, Ajarn Francia and Ajarn Sid ran a floral garland workshop for the boarders. […]
This week, Boarders were lucky enough to have the opportunity to celebrate Loy Krathong and the Yee Peng Lantern Festival at the Horizon resort in Chiang Mai.
A “Krathong” is a lotus-shaped raft that floats on water. It’s made of the banana trunk and decorated with leaves, flowers incense and candle before being released down the river.
Loy Krathong coincides with the Lanna festival of Yee Peng ,which falls on the full moon day of the 2nd month of the Lanna calendar. Yee Peng is also known as The Festival of Lights due to the mass releasing of lanterns into the sky.
Our students enjoyed traditional Thai food and drinks, music and dancing and afterwards, we lit and released lanterns into the sky and floated Krathongs in the water paying respect to the Goddess of the Water and to bring in good luck for the year ahead!
Everyone had a great time and the students were in awe of the sights of thousands of lanterns in the sky, fireworks and the community spirit of all those attending Loy Krathong festivities.
