Literacy week - it’s a wrap!

What a wonderful week we had celebrating Literacy in the Junior School.

Throughout the week, students were engaged in a myriad of opportunities that highlighted different aspects of Literacy and reinforced for our students how important the development of strong Literacy skills are as well as how important a love of reading is.

Examples of great writing and storytelling were evident in each class with our JS/MS collaborative story ‘Fortunately, Unfortunately’ on display near the MS stairs for you to read. Great writing from Gr 2 is on display outside the JS office for children to read also, well done to these children who did a great job writing narrative texts full of Wow words, exciting punctuation, clever connectives and awesome openers. Students who achieved success in the Spelling Bee and Homophone challenges received house points for their achievements. Our Early Years students began making story sticks as they explore different ways of storytelling. What a busy week we all had!

A very big thank you to all the children who brought in books to donate to the Baan Dek Flying Library, it was brilliant to see hundreds of books being shared with children who are less fortunate than our children here at Prem.

Even though Literacy Week is over for this year, don’t forget our important motto “Prem Kids Read Everyday!” Keep up the great reading and writing work JS students!
