Life after Graduation: Hearing from Alumni

One of the joys of a school like Prem is hearing from former students and  what they have achieved after they graduated and where they are in their current life. When they report how experiences at Prem launched their careers we feel very honored and proud to call them our Alumni. Even though they have left, Prem former students are always in our hearts. We welcome contact with our former students and love to share their stories. The following updates are from former PREM students, and we hope this inspires and interests our community. Our thanks to Jigme and Pema for their continued engagement. For more Alumni news please go to THIS PAGE of our website.

Jigme Tobgyal: (Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, USA)

Class of 2013

Prem was a great community to grow in both as a student and as a boarder, The diverse environment broadened my horizons and the rigorous IB curriculum prepared me for my undergraduate education. After Prem, I attended Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and began working in strategy consulting in Boston. I am now an associate at netflix in Los Angeles.

Pema Choden: (Smith College – Northampton, Massachuussets, USA)

Class of 2014

My time at Prem changed my life in many ways. I experienced living away from family for the first time, I got to decide how I spent my time and learnt how to interact with so many people from all over the world. In many ways Prem prepared me for college – academically as well as when it came to navigating cross cultural environments. After Prem I went on to study Economics and Psychology at Smith College in Northampton, MA. My favorite thing about Smith College was the flower shows at the botanical garden which were hosted every semester.

I graduated from 2018 and since then I was part of a creative incubation program (the kennedys PDX) at Weiden and Kennedys, Portland and also worked at their New Delhi office last year. 2019 has been a whirlwind and I guess the first few years after college are always unpredictable. But I know with all the skills I have gained from everywhere I have experienced, I can take on anything that life throws my way. For now I am back in Bhutan and I am learning how to brew beer and working on some illustrations.
