Promoting responsible IT use in the Junior School

The Counselling team has gone into Grades 3, 4, and 5 classes to present a workshop and hold a discussion on the subject of healthy technology use. The emphasis of the workshop was on gaming and identifying strategies to balance gaming with useful and fun activities. We looked at “uh-oh” moments that let us know when we’re too attached to gaming/tech use, and brainstormed ways to find adventure, be with friends, feel entertained, etc… without the use of laptops and video games. It was great to hear students share their own understanding of how technology hurts our eyes and our brains, and share the “rules” of the house around tech use (nice work parents!).
