JUNIOR SCHOOL: A WEEK IN REVIEW

In the Junior School, our week started on Monday with an orientation afternoon for our new families. There was great excitement in the air as our new children walked into their classrooms and met their homeroom teacher. Families also had a chance to meet our wonderful team of specialist teachers. This was great fun and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces.

On Tuesday, school started for all our children and it was a great privilege to welcome back some familiar faces returning to our beautiful Prem campus.

We had our first Junior School Assembly this week and the children reviewed the Junior School Students’ Rights and Responsibilities. At Prem we expect all of our students to exhibit behaviors that demonstrate a:

  • respect for self
  • respect for learning
  • respect for the community (other people, property, and our environment)

At the assembly, the students also had the opportunity to learn about our House system, new Buddy Benches, and leadership opportunities through the Junior School student council. Ajarn Rachel welcomed us to the new school year. This was also a chance for me to introduce our new teachers and teaching assistants to the students. For your information, they are:

Ajarn Lara – Grade 2 Homeroom Ajarn Sam – JS Physical Education
Ajarn Alix – Grade 5 Homeroom Ajarn Jenny – Library
Ajarn Kelly – JS Visual Arts Kru Pat – TA Grade 2
Ajarn Rebecca – EY Visual Arts Kru Nes – TA Grade 2
Ajarn Ni – Thai LOTE Kru Sprite – TA EY2

As our first week continued, students participated in homeroom and specialist classes, becoming familiar with expectations and classroom routines. As I walked through classrooms, I could see that student engagement was high and that our teachers had carefully planned experiential learning opportunities for our students.

We are looking forward to next week already. You are kindly invited to a couple of key events taking place. Our Exploria Marketplace will happen on Monday, August 29th, 3:30 pm – 4:45 pm. Parents are encouraged to come to the Junior School Undercroft with their children to learn about all of our wonderful Exploria after-school activities. On Tuesday, August 30th, 5:00 pm – 7:15 pm we will host our Parent Information Evening. All EY1 – Grade 5 parents are kindly asked to attend this event which will begin at 5:00 pm in the Prem Auditorium. Here’s wishing all of our Junior School families a nice weekend ahead. See you next week!

Respectfully yours,
Justin Jarman
Junior School Principal
