Thanksgiving Celebrations in Boarding
Last weekend our Prem Boarding community enjoyed a truly spectacular Thanksgiving with all the trimmings! Students were involved in every […]
After a busy first week of term, week two in boarding passed quickly. The boarding students have settled into their routine and their rooms are looking more like their own. This weekend the boarding students had the opportunity to get off campus and go shopping followed by dinner in Mae Rim Plaza. This was a good opportunity for the different grades to spend some time together and for our new boarders to explore some of the surrounding areas.
On Sunday the junior boarders enjoyed a morning of crafts with A. Bex, making dream catchers and other decorations for their rooms.
As boarding staff we want our boarders to feel at home in their cluster and these small touches help to make their rooms to feel more like their own.
During our craft activity, A.Bex talked to the juniors about their aspirations for the future. One junior boarder would like to train to be a vet after she has graduated and another said: “When I leave school I want to be a dentist.”
Some of our boarders had more short term goals in mind. One girl is enjoying her basketball Exploria and wants to improve her technique by the end of the season. Another is working hard in IEP to achieve her goal of improving her English by the end of the year.
Not only do our dream catchers help to make these rooms look more homely, they are also symbolic of our views here at PREM. All of the boarding staff, encourage each of our students not only to feel safe and have sweet dreams, but we give them the encouragement to work hard and follow their dreams. We hope that these decorations will serve as a reminder to our students to aim high and achieve their dreams and goals.
