Harmony Camp

Last week, Grade 6 Prem students joined Traidhos Camp for five days of camping and exploring in Northern Thailand on ‘Harmony Camp’.  During this week, they learnt how to work together, play together and live together whilst camping outside and braving the cold winter on the mountain!

Our first stop was Doi Inthanon where we set up our camp and then the campers cooked their own stir-fried vegetable dinner over gas stoves. The temperatures dropped below 10 degrees at night, but we all kept warm with active games, warm clothing and hot chocolate!

During the two nights at Doi Inthanon, we explored the biodiversity of the mountain, walked around the summit and trekked across waterfalls to the Karen village. On the morning of the third day, we packed up our camp and headed to Jae Sorn National Park with a stop at Lampang to visit the temple and famous Bodhi tree.

We stayed in the national park surrounded by forest and the campers enjoyed performing their ‘van anthems’ and visiting the hot springs. The following day the campers left behind their tents for real beds at the Mae Kampong homestay and ate and stayed overnight with their host families.

The final day involved a lot of mountain biking, a visit to a solar farm and then the students returned back to Prem.
