Not so long ago, the only time one heard of Hallowe’en on the European mainland was through American movies. It didn't take long for All Hallows' Eve to spread to the rest of the world, losing its cultural background in the process. Even the countries that celebrated an All Saints’ Day did not necessarily associate it with dressing up, decorating, pumpkins and haunted house, which give it its commercial success.
Halloween celebrations in boarding were no different. On Friday evening, the boarding students could visit the haunted classrooms in Senior School, giving some of them a real scare, and during the weekend many students enjoyed pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating, all dressed-up and faces painted, collecting candy in the residences.
