Over the last two weeks, we’ve made time to do guided meditations in the Junior School! At times with the entire class, and at other times with smaller groups, students were invited to talk about the importance of clearing our minds (taming the “monkey mind”!), they were encouraged to see meditation as being achievable anytime and anywhere, and students were then gently guided to go down a staircase one step at a time and enter a place of calm. They created their own peaceful place- some students invented new worlds, others remembered a place they’d been to before. Students invited their favourite people and favourite animals to join them in their special place, spending some time being close and hearing from others that they are loved. They know now that they can return to this special place anytime they need a mini-vacation! If you could create your own special sanctuary- what would you choose to include?
