Grade 8C learning about biomes

They can be seen here building a three-dimensional model of a biome in a box (a diorama) using everyday materials. Included in the model will be representative examples of flora and fauna, and will show the terrain. The inside walls of the box will be decorated and include a written description of all of the characteristics of the biome (elevation, precipitation levels, temperature, flora, fauna, etc) and a world map indicating the locations of their chosen biome. When finished the dioramas will be displayed in the library: please come in to see their work.

The students are also visiting the Prem farm three times during the unit to learn about various biotic and abiotic factors unique to biomes, biodiversity and building materials found in certain biomes.
