On Tuesday Grade 8 students enjoyed a day out in Chiang Mai. They were tasked with capturing images that highlighted various aspects of the Old City. Students have been asked to enter their photos in a competition that will see the best pictures selected for use in a 2019 calendar. Each month will feature a Grade 8 student’s photo, with all proceeds being made from the calendar being donated to a charity of the grade 8’s choice. Armed with a map and a camera students set off looking for pictures that would see them be awarded the winning photo.
Students were encouraged to look at as many aspects of the Old City as they could find with some guiding categories such as modern & historic Chiang Mai, the environment and the people of Chiang Mai. Students worked collaboratively in groups of 7 alongside a teacher to discover places that offered them a deeper insight into everyday life within the city walls. A number of stops were made at a variety of temples along the way which contrasted wonderfully with the several pieces of graffiti art that were seen. The students behaved in an exemplary manner throughout the day and this opportunity allowed them to strengthen their relationship with each other as well as their accompanying teachers.
