Grade 8: Capturing images of Chiang Mai
For our Grade 8 field trip we had the pleasure of taking a series of photographs to portray ‘Chiang Mai’. […]
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej developed the Sufficiency Economy Theory, known today at the King’s Sufficiency Economy Theory. Introduced many years ago, the new theory involves land management and the development of water sources for agricultural purpose. Its formula is 30-30-30-10. Under the New Theory, a plot of land is divided into four portions, namely 30% for a water source, 30% for a rice field, 30% for mixed crops such as fruit trees and vegetables and 10% for residence, animal farms and rice barns. The school farm at Prem covers approximately 20 rai of land and was designed to follow the King’s Sufficiency Economy Theory.
As part of their science course in Grade 6, students had to design a sustainable farm, based on the King’s Theory and apply their understanding of the concept of sustainable agriculture and waste management. To help them gain this knowledge, students had four productive sessions on the farm led by Ajarn Sandeep and his team of dedicated educators.
