Grade 1 Shelter Building Challenge!

The Grade 1 students had a joyful and enriching learning experience this week. They were challenged to find lots of natural materials and then build a shelter. The children also had to work in brand new teams that were selected by pulling names out of the ‘sorting hat’. This ‘Shelter Building Challenge’ was an authentic opportunity for the students to develop their communication, social and thinking skills. We reminded ourselves that when we work as a TEAM this means that Together Everyone Achieves More.
In addition, the students also had to use their tech skills to make a video about the shelter building activity. This was a very exciting beginning to our new Unit Of Inquiry into Where We Are in Place and Time (Shelters). Well done to all of the students for rising to the challenge so successfully. We are very proud of you!
