Last week we were privileged to welcome Dr. Cory Young as a guest lecturer into our G9 English Language and Literature class. Dr. Cory Young (Ph.D., Bowling Green State University, 2001) is an Associate Professor of Communication Management and Design and the Director of the Honors Program at Ithaca College in New York. She is primarily responsible for teaching corporate and organisational communications, specialising in crisis communication, social media, and public relations. In Grade 9, we are currently studying a unit on satire, so it was wonderful to have such a knowledgeable professor to give a guest lecture with a constructive Q and A session. Dr. Young presented on the power and impact of parody and focused on the famous SNL sketch of Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton in the 2008/9 USA election. The aim here was to ensure that all students were given the opportunity to move beyond the syllabus and to experience challenging content. Prem is committed to not just joyful learning, but impactful, personalised learning too. Thank you, Dr. Cory!
