We have been working very hard on polishing our division skills by playing games and working in small groups. Here are two different activities. The first one, we played to support student’s understanding of division and the idea of groups and remainders with a game called Animal Herding. Students had to act as animals and I would call out a group number. Students would get into groups and the leftover animals would go into the herding pen.
The second activity was to allow the students to practice their division strategies through a board game. Students had to prove that they had a correct answer before moving to the next square.
