Dear PREM family,
I hope you all are doing well and staying safe! I wanted to share this with you – I think your students will find this helpful and fun during this quarantine. We are hosting an exciting range of free workshops for students interested in the creative fields. We would love for your students to join us for any or all of these workshops. Some of them are programs that are considered STEM (I have highlighted that in yellow for you all). Please also note that we will be providing more workshops in the upcoming months. Learn the essential sequential shots, vital for building any type of story. Additionally, learn about SCAD’s Sequential Art Program and see examples of recent graduate work. |
May 27, 2020 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US) | Wednesday, May 27 – Graphic Design (STEM): Virtual Typography Scavenger Hunt Participants will engage in a series of typographic scavenger hunt exercises resulting in a deeper understanding how industry visual communicators leverage typography to communicate their message. |
June 1, 2020 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US) | Monday June 1 – Animation (STEM): The Language of Animators: Designing Characters to Propel a Narrative Forward Disney and Blue Sky veteran Gregg Azzopardi guides participants through the basics of constructing appealing characters for animated films. This basic exercise will help participants focus on developing a shape language used in every major studio to design characters for films and television. |

June 8, 2020 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US) | Monday, June 8 – Painting: Master of Illusion: The Anamorphic Apple This workshop will introduce a method for creating the appearance of 3-Dimensional space on a 2-Dimensional surface. Using colored pencils and a little bit of math, participants will learn how to draw an apple so that the depicted form appears to occupy space. |
June 10, 2020 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US) | Wednesday, June 10 – Illustration: Illustrating Repeat Patterns by Hand Learn how to illustrate your own hand-drawn repeat patterns without a computer! In this workshop, you will learn the basics of repeat patterns and the ways your patterns can be used, from wallpaper to stationery to fabric, the possibilities are endless. |
