Darkin’s career has included choreographic stints at Laban, Royal Opera House, The Place and the 02. Former Associate Artist at Bristol Old Vic, Darkin’s commissions include Jardin D’Europe, Linbury Trust, Jerwood, The Place Prize, and Glasgow 2014.
Collaborations include productions with Edinburgh International festival, Company of Angels, Grid Iron, Glastonbury Festivals, Channel 4/ Discovery, V&A at Dundee and National Theatre of Scotland. Darkin’s choreography has been described as ‘powerful and disturbing’ (The Stage), ‘always inventive’ (Telegraph) and as ‘politics comes to life in the body’ (New Statesman).
A passionate advocate of innovative dance education, Darkin was at the helm of The Collaboratory – the UK’s first peer-lead choreographic laboratory in 2012.
Darkin has choreographed in castles, universities, prisons, schools, pupil referral units and mental health charities, and written for publications including The Guardian and The Observer.
Fleur joined Scottish Dance Theatre as Artistic Director in 2012 and is currently developing projects with partners in India, Mexico and Brazil.
